We may start travelling to Komodo National Park from Bali or from Lombok. After the 2-hour flight to Labuhan Bajo in the West of Flores, we start the cruise on the wooden vessel either with cabin or without cabin depending our your finance ability and the comfort you wish. After the 3-hour cruise we arrive at the tranquil bay of Rinca Island's traditional pier which is made of wood by the exciting mangroves forest with colourful endemic shores fishes.
Komodo Lizards
The Mosasaurus komodoensis (1989), instead of Varanus komodoensis was first found by Mr. P.A. Ouwens in 1912 for the sake of western knowledge. The biggest lizards of the earth live only on Komodo and some neighbour islands. Komodo grow up to 3 m long and 135 kg weight, some reach a very high age (20-25 years). They nourish themselves mainly with carrion, but also wild deer, boars, goats and horses, and can consume up to 50 kg of meat, enough to make a komodo fasting during 2 weeks. The dangerous weapon is the long tail and the teeth with malignant bacteria.
